Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT review

Big pipes SRT Street and Racing Technology. I'm wearing sunglasses. I never do that, but this car wears sunglasses as well. It makes us both look better. I don't know if you've seen the normal Grand Cherokee, but it is not that pretty. This has the same color as the body. That does not look good, but these black glasses make it handsome. Another handsome thing... It is great, not handsome.

Almost fat, but an American is allowed to be. The rims are 20 inch, but they almost look small. That is bizarre. It is a strange chrome black. Very strange. Another great thing is the sound. That sound is food for the trees. I love nature. I like green and want to see growing trees. It is a lot of CO2, but that does not matter. This car has a 6.4-liter Hemi V8 engine, that is nice. That is American power.

It has 462 hp. You may think it has compressors and such, but no. This is naturally aspirated horsepower. Nice, awesome American. It may not be conventional. Maybe a turbo engine or compressor would have been better because it is more efficient, cleaner, and gives more power. That is what the Germans and English do with their Range Rover Sport SVR, etc.

This Grand Cherokee may not be better than all these cars, but no one buys a Grand Cherokee SRT for that reason. You buy this car because you think it is cool. And this car is cool. When you hit the throttle, it is a sensation. It is bizarre. Of course it is a bulky American, but we have a solution. Because it is a naturally aspirated 6.4-liter V8 engine, you emit 1 kg CO2 every 3.14 km (2 miles).

If you drive 314 km (195 miles), you lose 100 kg. The performance: 462 hp, 628 Nm (463 lb ft) torque. In theory you can do a lap time of 8 minutes and a little under 50 seconds. This too they tried with this car. That is not just thanks to the horsepower, but thanks to the modified suspension. It is 3 cm (1.2 inch) lower than a normal Grand Cherokee. It is also thanks to the 20 inch rims and Brembo brakes, which work great.

Doing 100 kph (62 mph), you can stop this car within 35 meters (38 yards). It may be hard to imagine how much this is, but it is quick. About 15 years ago, Porsche was proud to do the same with a Porsche 911. This gives you an idea how quickly this cars stops instead of moving in a straight line. Not only does it go in a straight line, because it steers rather well.

Following the American style, everything with this car is more and better... In some areas. For example, it has a meter. This car has a special SRT mode. It wants you to do 0-160 kph (99 mph), not 0-100 kph (62 mph). No, if you use it, you have to break all the rules. 0-160 kph (99 mph). The last time I did that was in 12 seconds.

I think that is rather quick for a car weighing 2,400 kg (5,291 lb). The fastest I did was 11.7 seconds. I have to admit that I am biased. I think American cars have a lot of plastic and a bad finish, but it is not that bad. It is a neatly finished car. The interior looks good. There are no squeaks and rattles, even though the car has some miles on it. It has been driven for some time now. It does not disappoint. I think it is a nice car to sit in. The seats are good. Jeep does well here too.

How much is it? You get to thank the Dutch State. 170,000 euros. That is cheaper than all the German rivals. Yes, it is still a lot of money, but 80,000 euros is vehicle registration tax because the Netherlands worries about CO2. We love nature. We want to make trees grow. Oh Dutch State? Act normal. A V8 is for nature lovers. Do it for the trees. Just do it for the trees.
